Mattie Katherine Stone

     Mattie Katherine Stone of Marlin died Saturday, August 6, 1994, at a Groesbeck nursing home.  She was 82.

     Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, August 8, at the Ward Street Church of Christ in Marlin, Travis Smith officiating.  Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin.

     Mrs. Stone was born September 7, 1911, in Oklahoma.  She married Alex Clifton Stone in 1929 in Mart; he died January 25, 1984.  She was director of the Tri-County Water District from its beginning until this year.  After her husband’s death, she worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart for 10 years.  She was a member of the Ward Street Church of Christ in Marlin and had lived in Marlin since January 1943.

     Survivors include her son, Ronald Stone of Lake Limestone; her brother, Ernest Ford of Cayuga; three sister, Mary McCroy of Dallas, Lemma Watts of Goodridge and Evelyn Rux of Friendswood; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

     Adams Funeral in Marlin was in charge of arrangements.
