Lula Mae Stone



     Lula Mae Stone, a homemaker, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 1995, at a Marlin hospital.  She was 98 years, eight months, and 14 days old.

     She was born Feb. 12, 1897, to Newton Alexander and Mary Elizabeth “Molly” Williams Stone.

     Services were held Sunday, Oct. 29, 1995, at Adams Funeral Home, in Marlin, with Minister Roelf Ruffner of Ward Street Church of Christ officiating.

     Burial was at Criswell Cemetery, which is located in the Criswell Community, where Lula Mae grew up and resided most of her life.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lois Stone Warneke; and eight brothers, Johnny Stone, who died as a baby, George W. Stone, Wesley D. Stone, Charlie C. Stone, Robert C. Stone, A. C. Stone, Gile B. Stone, and William N. “Doodlebug” Stone.

     Three nephews and one niece also preceded her in death.

     Survivors include 11 nieces and 13 nephews, as well as a large number of great-nephews and great-nieces and great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces.

     Nephews serving as pallbearers were Billy K. Stone, George H. Stone, Ronald C. Stone, Charles E. Stone, Keith Stone, and Terry W. Stone.  Great-nephews Jimmy R. Williams and Dwayne Warneke, Jr., also served as pallbearers.
