Edith Rebecca (Peters) Stone
July 16, 1913 – October 30, 2007

 

     Edith Rebecca Stone, 94, of Gatesville died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007 in Gatesville. Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at The First United Methodist Church following a 10 a.m. graveside at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

     Mrs. Stone was born July 16, 1913, in Lott, to the late Tom and Rinda Walker Peters. She graduated from Lott High School and received her bachelor degree from Mary Hardin-Baylor.

 

     On Sept. 19, 1942, Edith married Clois David Stone in Belton before moving to Gatesville in 1946.

     She worked for the Extension Agency and as a Food Administrator before teaching in Gatesville for a number of years.  Edith was very active in with the Coryell Retired Teachers, Delta Kappa Gama, United Methodist Women, Western Circle and the Morris Federation.

     She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Basil Peters.

     Edith is survived by her son, Paul Stone and wife, Melissa of St. Paul, Minn.; sister, Eva Owens of Houston; niece, Rebecca Owens of Atlanta, Ga.; nephews, Chester Owens Jr. of Houston, Richard Owens of Phoenix, Ariz., and Wallace Peters of Winrock, Wash.; a step-sister, Hazel Pottenger of Lott; and a host of family on the Stone side whom she dearly loved.

     Edith Rebecca Stone, 94, of Gatesville died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007 in Gatesville.
