Cego Resident Expires

With Sudden Attack

Deceased Talking With Friends At

Church Social When Fatally

Stricken—Funeral Monday Afternoon

Luther L. Stewart, 64, prominent Falls County farmer, died suddenly while conversing with friends at a church social at Cego Saturday night around 10:50 o’clock.

Deceased, who apparently had been in the best of health prior to the attack, was sitting on a seat under the tabernacle where the social was being held. Friends heard him draw a deep breath and death followed almost immediately.

Mr. Stewart came to Texas from Mississippi as a young man and settled in the western part of the county where he soon became one of the leading farmers and best known citizens in that area. He served as a member of the Falls county commissioner’s court for several years.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. George Killen of Waco, Miss Alma Stewart of Bay City and Miss Tina Stewart of Belton; three sons, Grady and L. L. Stewart, Jr., of Cego and Todd Stewart of Temple.

Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m. Monday from the Cego Baptist Church with Rev. O. G. Barrow of Austin, former pastor of the Cego church, and Rev. George W. McGuire, present pastor, conducting the services.

Burial was in Beulah cemetery near Eddy.

     Active pallbearers were E. J. Herrington, B. O. Herrington, Ren Herrington, J. T. Miracle, J. M. Earl and B. H. Bruner.
