Louis Stewart

 

     BELTON – Services for Louis “Shorty” Stewart, 86, of Belton will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Roberts Cemetery in Troy with the Rev. Ed Brentham officiating.

 

     He died Wednesday, Jan. 29, in a Belton nursing home.

 

     Mr. Stewart was born in Falls County to James Arthur and Minnie Turner Stewart, and he attended schools in Bruceville-Eddy. He married Edith “Dolly” Johnson on Nov. 12, 1938, in Troy. She also died on Wednesday. He worked as a foreman for Griggs Equipment in the metal shop 35 years. He was a member of the Research Institute of America and was a Baptist.

 

     Survivors are two sons, Larry Bruce Stewart of Troy and Carlos Louis Stewart of Belton; a daughter, Laurel Deane Leatherwood of Troy; a brother, Fred Stewart of Temple; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

 

     Memorials may be made to VistaCare Family Hospice, 819 S. 5th St., Temple, 76504.

 

     Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Heartfield Funeral in Belton.

Edith Stewart

 

     BELTON – Services for Edith “Dolly” Stewart, 88, of Belton will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Roberts Cemetery in Troy with the Rev. Rudy Rudewick officiating.

 

     She died Wednesday, Jan. 29, in a Belton nursing home.

 

     Mrs. Stewart was born in Troy to Charley Erastus and Susan Artimissa McNair Johnson, and she graduated from Troy High School in 1933. She married Luther “Shorty” Stewart on Nov. 12, 1938, in Troy. He also died on Wednesday. She worked for Smith Brothers Laundry and was a homemaker. She was a Baptist.

 

     Survivors are two sons, Larry Bruce Stewart of Troy and Carlos Louis Stewart of Belton; a daughter, Laurel Deane Leatherwood of Troy; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
