DILTON S. “SANDY” SANDIFER
October 19, 1922 - December 5, 2005



     Dilton S. "Sandy" Sandifer, 83, of Marlin, Falls Co., Texas entered into rest Monday December 5, 2005 in Temple, Texas. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Adams Funeral Chapel with Pastor Joe Sandifer, Rev. Andy Bratcher and Bobby Freeman officiating. Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. at the Mexia City Cemetery in Mexia, Texas. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home.

     Sandy was born October 19, 1922 in the Lost Prairie Community of Limestone County to William Munroe and Ora Cynthia Lansford Sandifer. He was a retired civil servant for the Veterans Administration and was instrumental in obtaining benefits for many local veterans after his retirement. He ran the K-N Root Beer Stand for 8 years and was the evening visitation attendant at Adams Funeral for several years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Bellmead and served his churches as a deacon for over 40 years. He married Ella Jewel Ware on his birthday, October 19, 1947 in Mexia, Texas.

     Survivors include his wife, Ella Jewel Sandifer, of Marlin, Texas; sons, Joe D. Sandifer and wife Ann of Waco, Texas, Larry Ware and wife Susan of Waco, Texas; daughter, Vicki Lynn Freeman and husband Ken of Eddy; brother, J. T. Sandifer of Mexia, Texas; sister, Katie Ilene Behrens of Grosebeck, Texas; four grandchildren, Jason Sandifer of Waco, Texas, Jeff Freeman of McGregor, Texas, Amanda Thompson of Waco, Texas, Clay Freeman of Eddy, Texas; great-grandson, Kolton Freeman of McGregor, Texas.

     Adams Funeral in Marlin was in charge.
