Mr. H. F. Spencer Succumbs to Illness.

       Sunday morning at 3:30 at his in this city, the spirit of H. F. Spencer passed to its reward.
       Mr. Spencer had been in poor health for two years and in a critical condition for five months.  His illness was of such a nature that his demise was expected for some time and he was resigned to death.
       Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 11 o'clock Monday, Rev. O. T. hotchkiss conducting.  The remains were conveyed to Bremond on the 12:40 train for interment in the family burial ground.  The remains were accompanied by relatives and a number of friends.
       The pallbearers to accompany the remains to Bremond wee L L Peterson, A. L. Branson, W. E. Hunnicutt, F. M. Burkhead, J. W. Hoke, Geo. S. Cousins, S. H. Johnson.
       Mr. Spencer had resided in Marlin for thirty years and was well known and highly respected by the community.  He was an upright and honorable citizen and christian, a consistent member of the Methodist church, in which body he was a steward for several years.  He was a Master Mason, member of the Marlin lodge, held fraternal esteem by his brother Masons.
       Deceased was 74 years of age.  He was a native of Virginia, where  he enlisted at Smithville in the Confederate army.  He was assigned as a member of Co. K, 14th cavalry, McCausland's brigade, Early's division, Army of Nothern Virginia.
       He is survived by his wife and three sons and two doughters (sic) by a former marriage, Messrs. R. B., T. C. and Henry Spencer and Mesdames Sessions and Ramey.
       Relatives from a distance who were present at the funeral were Messrs R.B Spencer and son of Dublin, T. C. Spencer of Stamford, T. C. Spencer, Sr. and Miss Spencer of Palestine, Mesdames Sessions of Hillsboro and Ramey of Tyler and John T. Garrett of Calvert.
