ROD SANDERS
March 26, 1934 - April 9, 2006
Rod Sanders, 72,
of Shallowater, passed away into his Lord's presence at his Sunday afternoon,
April 9, 2006. He was born March 26, 1934 in Prairie Hill. He attended grade
school in Marlin before graduating high school in Abernathy in 1952. He married
Wardine Reed on June 28, 1958. They lived in County Line until moving to
Shallowater in 1979.
Rod was in the
farming industry for 50 years harvesting cotton and grain in the West Texas
Area. He was an avid sports fan and became involved as a coach in little league
baseball and basketball.
He was also a
member of the Youth Football League and Booster Club in Shallowater. He also
loved antique cars and being a friend to everyone he met in life.
He was a member
of County Line Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Shallowater for 40
years.
Survivors
include his wife, Wardine; son, Robert of Austin; sister, Betty Allen and
husband Bill of Pecos; nephew, Billy Ray Allen and wife Wanda of New Braunfels;
Mary Allen Caruth and husband Jim of San Antonio; Kim Allen Poitevant and
husband Duane of Midland, and many great nieces and nephews living in Texas.
The family
received friends and family at Resthaven Funeral on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 from
6:30 - 8 pm. Funeral services were held at Shallowater Baptist Church at 1 p.m.
Wednesday, April 12, 2006, under the direction of Joel Perez. Burial was in
Resthaven Memorial Park.
