Ethel LaRue Smith
April 6, 1907 — February 22, 2001



     MARLIN — Services for Ethel LaRue Smith, 93, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Marlin Missionary Baptist Church in Marlin.

     The Revs. Laura Burrell and Waylon Sias of Marlin Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Falls County Cemetery.

     Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

     Mrs. Smith died Thursday at her home.

     She was born in Marlin and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. She was a retired school and piano teacher. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and Eastern Star. She was a member of Marlin Baptist Church for 70 years and Newst John Community Baptist Church in Bryan for five years.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Aaron Smith Sr., and a son, Henry Walter Smith.

     Survivors include three sons, Benjamin Walton of Engelwood, Colo., Aaron Smith Jr. of West Covina, Calif., and John Paul Smith of San Antonio; four daughters, Laura Petty Burrell of Bryan, Marjorie Greenwood of El Paso, Grace Winston of Mansfield, Texas, and Bettye Magee of Seat Pleasant, Maine; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
