Obituary Of Mrs. Emily Crawford

    Died at the of her daughter, Mrs. Eliza Rody, at Perry.  Mrs. Emily Crawford, October 11th, at 4 p. m. aged 81 years, 4 months, and 6 days.  The last surviving member of a family of four sisters and five brothers.  Born in Carroll county, Mississipi, in 1833; came to Texas with the family in 1839; had been a resident of Falls county for the past 50 years.  She was the sister of S. S. Ward and Mrs. Mary Oakes, deceased.  A noble and true christian as exemplified in her everyday life.  She connected herself with the Baptist church many years she loved the plain and simple life, without ostentation or display, and she asked that she be buried in the same simple manner.  She leaves behind to mourn her loss a large number of relatives, friends and acquaintances among the number, her nephews, F. M. and C. H. Oakes, Jno., Will, Sterl and Frank Ward of Marlin, S. S. Ward of Artesia, New Mexico; her nieces, Mrs. Lizzie Gill of Mart, Mrs. Mollie Claybrooks of Perry.
    Possessed of a kindly and lovable disposition.  She was loved and honored by all who came in touch with her pure and noble life.  A grand and noble character has departed this life and left behind her a vacant place that will long be felt and mourned by those who knew and lover her.
    Peace, peace, sweet peace!  Rest to her immortal soul!  May the angels attend and waft her spirit to a brighter and happier in the great beyond, where pain and sorrow are felt and known no more, but where all is peace, contentment and happiness throughout all the ages to come.
