Jesse S. Cook

May 27, 1924 - October 16, 2008

 

Jesse S. Cook, 84, of Marlin, entered into rest Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Marlin, with the Rev. Eric Moore officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Adams Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Cook was born May 27, 1924, in Stranger, Falls County, to Jesse James and Carrie Lillian Couch Cook. He was a life long resident of Marlin and Falls County, and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. He retired from the Marlin Post Office after 31 years of service. He loved to fish and work in his vegetable garden. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II, in the 20th Armored Division in the European Theatre of Operations.

 

Mr. Cook was preceded in death by sisters, Hettie Nutley and Dixie Hooks.

 

Survivors include, wife, Edna Zost Cook of Marlin; son, Randy Cook and wife, Kim of Kosse; daughters, Debbie Drews and husband, Keith of Marlin, and Patricia Roppolo and husband James of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Josh Drews, Brandson Drews, Justin Roppolo, Patrick Roppolo, Ryan Cook, Chris Rand and Greg Amber. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenneth Wren and Truman McMillan.
