     Frances Elizabeth was born to Ellie and Mariah (Brown) Wiggins. She went to public school in Marlin and after receiving a vocal music scholarship as a second soprano, she attended East Texas State College.

     On July 11, 1942, she married John Chatmas II, former mayor of Marlin. They were married for 55 years, and lived in Marlin for most of their married lives. Frances was a long time member of the First Presbyterian church of Marlin, where she sang in the choir. She was active in the Wednesday Matinee Musical Club, and the Tuesday Night Bridge Club.

     She is survived by her children, John Thomas Chatmas and wife, Karen, of Waco; and Fran Brown, of San Antonio; sister, Marjorie Beasley; grandchildren, John Thomas Chatmas Jr., Daniel Brown, Elizabeth Brown Harris and husband, Lance, and Mary Merchant; great-grandchildren, Jack and Taylor Chatmas; brother, J.C. Chatmas and wife, Maxine; sister-in-law, Evangeline Giley; and numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and beloved friends.
