NANNIE EVELYN (MORRISON) BEAN, (93) died Tuesday, September 18, 2001 in
Hallettsville. She was born September 19, 1908 on a farm between Reagan and Blue
Ridge, in Falls County, to the late Walter Lee Morrison and Pearl Eva Edwards.
She attended schools in Reagan, Mart, and Marlin and was a 1928 graduate of
Marlin High School. Evelyn also attended Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton.
On October 4th, 1929, Evelyn married Arthur Dee Bean Jr., the
son of Arthur Bean Sr. and Gurrie Leona Blakely. They lived for short perionds
of time in Falls, McLennan, Harris, Gregg and Calhoun Counties, finally settling
in 1933 on the MacKamey ranch/farm at Kamey, near Port Lavaca, Calhoun County,
TX. where for many years she was secretary,
bookkeeper. In 1942, the family
moved to Bosqueville, Mclennan
County while Arthur served in the U. S. Navy. In 1946, Arthur was discharged
from the U S Navy and they returned to Kamey where Evelyn was manager of the
Kamey Army Store until 1987 when she retired. Evelyn and Arthur then moved to
Hallettsville, TX.
Mrs. Bean was a 50+ year member of
the Port Lavaca Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a long time member of
the First Baptist Church in Port Lavaca.
Graveside services were at
Greenlawn Cemetery in Port Lavaca, 2 PM, Friday, September 21, conducted by the
Reverend Quinn Kelly.
