Gun Accidently Discharged While
Taking it From Rack.

       Jay Bassett was killed at Kosse at an early hour Wednesday.
       He was shot in the face by the accidental discharge of a shotgun which he was in the act of taking down from the rack for the purpose of shooting a rabbit in the garden.  In some manner the shell was exploded, the entire load taking effect and producing death immediately.
       Deceased was well known throughout Central Texas and had many friends in Marlin and Falls county.  He was mayor of Kosse and prominent in business and social circles.  Was active in lodge circles, being a member of the Grand Lodge K. of P.  He was a warm hearted, steadfast friend and many a regret will be felt and expressed at his untimely and tragic death.
       He leaves a wife and two children who have the deepest sympathy of all in their darkest hour of affliction.
