EDWARD LEE BRADLEY

November 5, 1933 - April 2, 2005



     Edward Lee Bradley, 71, passed away April 8, 2005. Services were held Friday, April 15, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Unity Baptist Church in Sacramento, Calif. with Reverend Tillman Wade, Jr. officiating. Reverend William Johnson Jr. of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Marlin gave the Eulogy. He was buried at Camellia Memorial Lawn in Sacramento.

     Edward was born on November 5, 1933, in Marlin, Falls Co., Texas to the late David and Deloris Bradley. He was the third of 14 children born to their union.

     An ideal American, he was a self-made man who took a meager start in life and transformed himself. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Marlin, Texas, and later joined the United States Navy. After his discharge, he became a civilian employee of the Army Depot, and from there transferred to McClellan Air Force Base where he retired after 31 years of dedicated service.

     After retirement, Edward worked for Dependable Janitorial Service at Mare Island Naval Shipyard until the base closure. Edward was a co-owner of the family business, A Touch A' Class. He also loved to golf with his friends every chance he got as his passion for the game was strong.

     He met and married Ms. Helen Hampton on November 8, 1980. To this union God blessed them with Helen's son, James Deon Hampton (deceased), and Edward's daughters, Edwina Lynn, and Trina of Sacramento, California.

     Edward joins in God's arms his stepson, James Deon Hampton; his parents, Mr. And Mrs. David Bradley; his brothers, Howard and John Bradley; his brothers-in-law, Harold Randolph and Rickey Swift; and his stepdaughter, Roselyn Marie Berry.

     He leaves to cherish his love and memory a devoted wife of 24 years, Helen Hampton-Bradley; two daughters, Edwina Lynn Roberts and husband Farris Sr., and Trina Orr and husband Dwayne; three grandsons, Deon Edward Hampton, Gabriel Orr and Farris Roberts, Jr.; and from a previous marriage four stepchildren, 14 step-grandchildren and 26 step-great-grandchildren.

     Also embracing his memory are his sisters and brothers, Devora Johnson and husband William of Marlin,; Erma Bradley, Vera Randolph, Emmarine Ware and husband Ronnie, and Phyllis Williams and husband John, Elgin Maurice Bradley and wife Sandi, Marie Owens and husband L.P., David Earl, Diane Swift, and Bertram Bradley and wife Carolyn; one aunt, Luella Hubbard of Sacramento; and a special cousin, Susie Brooks of Marlin, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

     Pallbearers were Elgin Bradley, Bertram Bradley, Fred Bradley, David Earl Bradley, Gregory Bradley, and Jessie McKinley.

     Honorary pallbearers were L. P. Owens, Dwayne Orr, Farris Roberts, Ray Hunter and Horace Henderson.
