           MRS. WILL NEWMAN’S BIRTHDAY IS OBSERVED SUNDAY

 

            Mrs. Will Newman celebrated her 75th birthday anniversary where a barbecue was given in her honor at the of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Hamilton on Maryland avenue, Sunday, February 26, 1950.  Her husband the late Will Newman was a prominent farmer near Marlin.

            Mrs. Newman was born in Germany and came to the United States when she was two years old.  She has lived in Falls county over 50 years and most of this time has been spent at the family farm immediately north of Marlin on the Rock Dam road.

            The honoree is unusually active for her age and enjoys the care an maintenance of a  beautiful flower garden and a flock chickens as a hobby.  She is an artistic seamstress and does considerable crochet work.

            All of her children were present for the Sunday party.  These included three sons and two daughters.  They are Louie Newman and wife and children; Alfred Newman, and wife and daughter; Mrs. Walter Loggins and husband: Sam Campo, Jimmy Slott, Houston, Mrs. Will Hommel of Waco, who is a niece of Mrs. Newman’s and was reared in the Newman home. Mrs. Fred Miller, Mrs. Henry Klatt of Waco. One son of Mrs. Newman’s, Ed Newman was the victim of a fatal automobile accidnet near Harrison Switch in 1924.  She has four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
