DWAYNE COX SHOWS DALLAS
FLOWER SHOW ABOUT
SUPERB COMFORT

The Dallas Times Herald on Sunday morning had a big 3-column headline reading, "Lad Enjoys Flower Exhibit's Pool As Garden Center Show Opens."

Here is what it had to say about a Marlin lad:

An 8-year old red-haired boy sat quietly on a rock surrounded with a mass of flowers and shrubs and steadily eyed a waterfall spilling into a pond.

It wsa wading weather Saturday and the waterfall was a big temptation for this modern-day Tom Sawyer.  All it took was a nod from several onlookers.

Off came the shoes and socks and Dwayne Cox, son of Dr. and Mrs. Vincent Cox of Marlin, was splashing his feet in the cool water.

Some of the visitors at the opening of the annual Dallas Garden Center flower show Saturday probably felt like joining Dwayne.

An estimated crowd of 6,000 flocked to the show in the Electric Bldg. at Fair Park and officials expected the attendance to reach about 18,000 through Sunday, about 3,000 moe than last year.  The show will continue through March 19.
