ENDORSED, DISAPPEARS

Investigation Reveals Same Thing
Had Been Tried at Other
Places

       After renting an apartment at the of Mrs. E. J. Smith of Marlin Thursday, a man got her to endorse a check for $35, cashed it at a bank here and disappeared.  Investigation revealed a party had tried the same thing at some other Marlin rooming houses, City Marshal Walston stated.
       Informed the apartment would be ready by two p.m., the man  proffered the check, expressing a desire to pay $20 rent out of it.  Mrs. Smith suggesed he get it cashed downtown and pay her on returning, whereupon he requested her endorsement.
       Authorities have a description of the man, also the name of an out of town bank on which the check was drawn.
