Eastland Physician Visitiing in This
City Also Spoke at
Meeting.

Having been elected toastmaster for a meeting of the Greater Marlin
Club several days ago, Dr. T. G. Glass was toastmaster at the Rotary Club today at the Hilton.  G. W. Glass, president of the club was absent, not being in the city.

Herbert Jacobs, president of the Mexia Rotary Club and special representative in this district spoke on the objects of Rotary and details of organization, especially with reference to local organizations.

Having definite ideals looking to better citizenship, higher standards in business and profession and rendering a community service as well as "Rotary programs are necessary to be planned along constructive lines," he said. "They should be planned months in advance, subject to change of course, for something special.  The programs usually beginning with a song or two led by a song leader, who does not necessarily belong to the club.  The president presides and when business is over, turns the meeting over to the program leader.

"Much of the success of the club depends upon the various committees, the most important of which usually have one of the directors as chairman.

"When you thoroughly understand the ideals and activities of Rotary you will be highly pleased with your membership.  It means something to you.  You realize your profession is not only represented in Rotary but you represent that profession."

Mr. Jacobs having assisted in organizing the club explained that information and papers had been sent to the district governor and forwarded to international headquarters at Chicago.  When the charter is received organization will be completed, including appointment of committees.

Dr. C. H. Carter, a member of the Eastland club spoke briefly emphasizing the value of Rotary membership.  "The privilege  with permits visiting with other cities in various sections of the state, union and the world, alone, is of great value to the members,"  he said.

The Mexia club has been invited to give a program at the next meeting, Friday, July 31.
