INDIAN DELEGATION DUE
IN MARLIN NEXT SATURDAY

Black Hills Motor Cade to Make Trip
Through Heart of
Texas.

       Definite arrangements have been announced for the arrival of the Black Hills Motorcade Delegation from the Black Hills of South Dakota which will have Chief Max Big Mans and his two sons, Black Wolf and Sings Above.
       The delegation are visiting the larger cities of Texas on this occasion and it was through the co-operation of J. B. French, a former citizen of Marlin and past president of the local Chamber of Commerce that the delegation was routed by Marlin at this time.  Mr. French resides in Rapid City, South Dakota, near the Crow Indian Reservation.
       Chief Max Big Mans original Indian name is "Ish-Tah-Heah-Dehsh". He is Chief of the Crow Indians or Absaroka Tribe, which means "Blackbird people."  A very colorful history surrounds the Crow Indians and the motorcade from the Black Hills is under the name of the Custer Battlefield Meridian Good Will Trippers.
       A personnel of the reception committe in Texas, names many prominent characters, who will accompany the trippers at different points along the route, some of these listed on the schedule are Hon. C. V. Terrell; Lon A. Smith; Mark Marshall; J. F. Wallace; Tom Connally; D. K. Martin; H. M. Dickman; A. W. Griffith; C. F. C. Ladd.
       Automobile associations in Texas will serve as escorts of the motorcade at different points and at intervals will be accompanied by bands from different cities along the route.  Bands from Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Laredo will take part in the trip.
       According to the schedule, Senator Tom Connally will join the motorcade at Waco and accompany them to Marlin, and an Austin band will join the party in that city and be in Marlin.
       It is reported that a number of the large state daily newspapers will have correspondents and newspaper photographers accompany the delegation through Texas and will visit Marlin.
       The schedule shows that the trippers will arrive in Marlin at 10 o'clock in the morning of next Saturday, May 23, and will give a performance at the courthouse square and will remain in Marlin until 1 o'clock in the afternoon and go from here to Baylor College at Belton.
       Their trip is designated to visit the following cities:  Decatur; Fort Worth; Waco; Marlin; Belton; Austin; San Antonio; Laredo; Monterrey: San Benito and Harlingen.
       A pilot escort for the trippers in Texas will be composed of members of the Texas State Highway Patrol and will be under the personal supervision of the Chief L. G. Phares of Austin.
       Correspondence and arrangements for the trippers has been handled by the local Chamber of Commerce and the organization requests local citizens to assist in serving as a reception committee for this delegation and to attend the performance that will be given at 10 o'clock next Saturday.
