Chilton, Texas, Dec 8
-- On December 6, relatives met at the home
of Mrs. A. E. Lockerd to celebrate her seventy-fifth birthday.  It was
a complete surprise to her.  Despite the bad, rainy weather, she attended Sunday school and church in the morning.  Rev. O. G. Barrow, pastor of the Baptist church, preached a sermon for the old people, especially honoring her for the work she had done for the church through the years.
When she returned from church the relatives had assembled at her home.  All of her brothers and sisters, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were there, except one grandson, who was away at school.
Among those present were Mrs. Frances Maxey, A. G. Maxey, Waco; J. D. Maxey, Lorena; Mrs. J. N. Shields, Mrs. J. L. Allen and son, Joe Lee, of Mart; Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Lockerd and son, Carter, Hillsboro; Mr. and Mrs. N. F. Lockerd of Bryan, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Lane, Miss Edna Lane, Mrs. S. E. Miles, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Weeks, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Weeks, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Young, Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Maxey, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Eakin, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Eakin, and three children, Merlin, Mary Jeannette and Billie Joe, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Eakin and Miss Isabel Eakin, all of Chilton; Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Eakin, Jr., and son J. C. Eakin III of Neches; and the honoree, Mrs. A. E. Lockerd.
Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Gaines called during the afternoon to wish Mrs. Lockerd many happy returns of the day.
