East Texas Oil Venture
~~~~~
One of Owners of Gusher Which
Blew in Friday For Twenty-Five
Thousand Barrels.
~~~~~

"Yes, we closed the deal for the lease on Friday, started drilling on Friday, and brought in the well on Friday," said Ben Phillips of Marlin. "I think Friday is my lucky day," he added.
The well blew in with a flush production of 25,000 barrels daily.
Associated with Mr. Phillips are J. C. Kilgore, Perry Allen, Roy Long and L. A. Demmer of Waco. The well is in Smith county twelve miles from Henderson and on the Henderson and Tyler highway. The Painter Oil Co. is the company formed by these gentlemen, and the well is the company's T. O. Wright No. 1 on the Juan Vargas survey.
The company has ten acres under lease and will sink two additional wells on the property.
