If any one has any doubt as to the quality of the races that will be pulled off in Marlin Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, that doubt will be removed by a perusal of the list published below.
The owners of these horses have been arriving in Marlin for several days and since Saturday, the influx has been rapid.  Some of the most famous trotters, pacers and runners in the state are here and there are more en route.
Following is the list of horses at the grounds up to 12 o'clock Monday.

Bob Farmer of Beaumont has Ludie K, a very fast pacer, mark of 2:14.  Mildred Strong, a 2:16 trotter and Farmer Boy, a green pacer.

       F. A. Cooley at the Rosebud Horse Co. has King Airy, mark of 2:13 trotting.  Allie Star, 2 year old pacer and the invincible Hal Burton, one of the best pacing stallion in Texas. He has now twelve straight heats, pacing a half at Rosebud in 1:03.

Prof. Edgar of Hamilton has Torment, a 2 year-old pacer; Dixie, a 4-year old trotter and The Oregon, a fast trotter.

Howard Read of Beaumont has Black Slipper, trotter; Train Time, a free for all pacer, Amber Medium, trotter and Dallas News, a runner.

       L. P. Russell, Marlin, has the celebrated Allie N, owned by F. S. Heffner, trotter; Paul G. trotter and Hal Noble, a 3 year-old trotter by Al Noble out of Alice McCurdy.

Butch Smith, Marlin, has Jim Patch, pacer.

Frank Peacock, Marlin, has Nut Clipper, Star Dean, and Princess Inskie.  All fast horses and should win at this meeting.

In the running division there are some of the best horses in the state here and all ready to race.

Bill Sitterle, Victoria, has the Rounder., a very handy little horse.

       F. Ownby, Bartlett, has Big Wonder.

Simon Harris, Taylor, has Geo. Snobbs, Virgie C and Orange Wood, an old time pacer.

Alex Hughes, Austin, has Diamond G., a full sister to Lady Vashti and Billy Patterson.

"Uncle Sebe Sweat, Temple, has Please Walters, one of the fastest short horses in the country and will be hard to be  best if in condition to race.  Nettie Harrison, a fast quarter horse; has run a quarter in 23 seconds. Prince, the roan wonder of Texas, and Rationalty.

Webb Christian, Big Springs, has Jackette and Mary T., both good ones.

       D. R. Rigsby, Big Springs, has Texas.  This is the black gelding that won so many races for Webb Christian.  He is good now and will be a contender at any time he starts.  He will bear watching.

       J. Avery, Ballinger, has the brown filley, Bessia A. and she is a good one, and at Lampasas she upset all speculation by winning the half mile dash from all the best ones.  She was 20 to 1 in the betting and was despised by every one but won handily in 49 seconds.

A telegram has been received from W. O. Foote  saying that he will be here with a string of his fastest horses.  There will possibly be forty more horses to arrive.

The track is in good shape and the horsemen are well pleased with the condition.

All Marlin and surrounding country should attend the fair and help make it a great success, for it will prove a strong incentive to the further development of the county.

The exhibits for the agricultural and live stock departments will begin arriving Wednesday and it is expected that they will be very creditable for the opening meet.
