Rare Collection of Coins and Curios.

       W. W. Allen has one of the best collections of old coins and curios in the state.  Part of these he has on exhibition in the Allen Drug store show window.
       Among the coins are one Roma of the time of Caesar, 100 years B.C.; a petition shilling, issued before the execution of Charles First; a $2.00 currency bill issued in 1779, printed by Hall & Sellars, which shows a hand and frail pointing to a stamp, the emblem referring to the "stamp act" which caused so much commotion in those days and gave rise to the "Boston tea party," a Spanish coin of 1760 and a coin of the time of Frederick and Isabella; an Egyptian coin of 1733; a coin of 1772 and another 1800.
       In addition to these he has quite of number of others.  The $2.00 bill referred to was purchased by him from an old darkey in Marlin at the price of $16.50.
