New Law Partnership.

Announcement is made of the formation of a new law firm, composed of J. W. Spivey, Z. W. Bartlett and Geo. H. Carter, under the firm name of Spivey, Bartlett & Carter.
The new firm succeeds to the practice of the firms of Martin, Spivey & Carter and of Rice & Bartlett, the members of the new firm having been members of the old firms, respectively, mentioned.
The reformation of these firms marks an epoch in the history of the Marlin bar.  For thirty-five years Capt. J. A. Martin was an attorney at this bar and for nearly the same length of time Judge Rice has been in the practice here.  These two gentlemen and able counselors gained wide prestige and extensive clientage during their practice here and ranked high among the foremost lawyers of the state.  Each retires by reason of having been called to perform service for the state, along the lines of their chosen profession and for which long years of successful practice had peculiarly qualified them.
The gentlemen composing the new firm are much younger men and younger in the practice, yet they each have to their credit several years of successful practice.  Mr. Spivey, the senior member of the new firm, was with the firm of Martin & Eddins, later with Martin, Spivey & Carter; Mr. Bartlett was a member of the firm of Rice & Bartlett a dozen years; Mr. Carter was in the practice prior to his election as county attorney in which position he served four years.  At the conclusion of his term he went with the firm of Martin, Spivey & Carter.  The new firm, therefore, is not without the experience and acquaintance so essential to a successful practice.
