       The Chicago retail horse market reports during the month of  April, 1906, the sale of 928 horses to work in Chicago.  In April, 1907, 2872 were sold.  In New York, 2270 head were sold in April, 1906 and 5162 in April, 1907.  In April, 1906, there were exported to England 1120 and for the same month this year, 3765.  The average prices are $62 a head higher than a year ago.  This don't look much like machinery has run out the horses.
       The U. S. Calvary post at Fort Sam Houstin is in the market for 978 horses and 513 mules.  The buying will begin on May 14.
