DECLINE IN THE COTTON MARKET.
-----
Government Report Construed As
Bearish By Market Operators.
-----

There was a decline of forty points in the cotton market Wednesday.
The decline is due to the government report for October 2, which shows 67.7 as against 72.7 last month and 77 last year.
Ginners report for the month of September show 1,430,000 bales ginned up to Sept. 25.
Local buyers do not quite understand the method of calculation adopted by those in control of the markets, but they know that cotton is off 40 points.  Offers on spots were from 11:10 to 11:25 with only a few bales on the market.
From an unofficial source it is learned that about 16,000 square bales and about 1500 round bales were ginned in this county during September.  This, of course, is only an estimate.
The local cotton receipts are lighter than they have been in years, due to the light crop and the holding of the staple for higher prices.
