Days that are Remembered.
-----

The 16th and 17th of September, which were on Monday and Tuesday of this week, are days that are remembered and will continue to be remembered by veterans who participated in the battle of Antietam, fought 45 years ago, in 1862.
In Marlin there are several confederate veterans and (missing) union men who engaged in (missing) bloody and destructive engagement which cost the northern army a large percentage of its forces and in which the south lost heavily.  The battle was considered a draw by both sides and has so been treated in history, but the death of so many of the confederates was to the south an irreparable loss, though smaller than that suffered by the union army.
