Contract Let For Enlarging Dam.
-----

The committee to whom was referred to the matter of having the waterworks extension dam reinforced and strengthened, has let the contract for same to Contractor Riley.
The new work embraces making the dam two feet higher, twelve feet wider, an apron, and about 80 feet longer.  The price paid for the additional work is $1200.
This additional work was under consideration for some time and when it was first suggested in the council it met with opposition from the mayor and half the council who based their opposition on the opinion of Engineer Hunnicutts in charge of the work, who believed it was unnecessary.  However, after further consideration the opposition yielded and the contact is let, as above stated.
