-------

Deputy Cooley was called to the lake north of town Tuesday night to quiet a disturbance that Charlie Smith was raising.  The negro Smith was fined on Tuesday in mayor's court for disturbing the peace and he sought to get revenge on the negroes who had been instrumental in causing his arrest.  He made good his escape before the officer arrived.
