U. C. V. PROCEEDINGS
~~~~~
     At a called meeting of Willis Lang Camp held April 16, 1904, there were present Comrades G.  A. King, Cockrell, Murphy, Owens, Spencer, Boyles, Robertson, Frazier, Morris and Hutchings.
     Comrade Cockrell was elected Adjutant during J. M. Jolly's absence and he was directed to write to Write to Comrade, Jolly to turn over all moneys and papers to him belonging to the camp.
     A committee of three was appointed to help revise the rolls of the camp, viz: Frazier, Boyles and Murphy.
     A meeting, was called by the commander for Decoration Day on April 26 at 10 o'clock a. m. at the court house. It was agreed that we meet monthly on the third Saturday in each month at 2 o'clock p. m.
SPECIAL MEETING CALLED.
     Comrades, the Daughters of the Confederacy has appointed the 26th of April as Decoration Day and you are hereby called to meet at the court house at 10 o'clock a, m. on that day to assist, in the exercises planned by them. It is not necessary to urge any good confederate veteran to join us for that occasion but comrades we have been heretofore so lax and remiss in our duties that I feel justified in recalling to your memory the number of times we promised each other in bivouac, in camp, on in the march, in trouble, in sorrow, in sickness that we would faithfully (sorry, this part missing-kc) keep our memories our attachment for each other and for the cause, we were fighting for, and then let us tenderly and touchingly place a flower upon the graves of our death comrades in the little city of the dead at Marlin.  This is done by order of camp, April 16, 1904.
SHELLING THE WOODS.
     I want to call the attention of confederate veterans to the fact that in our "Confederate Register" I do not recall a single instance of a corporal's being registered, this ought not to be so, we all know that we had more corporals than any other grade of officers. I am going to shell the bushes until I find some; I feel sure that we have some in this county. Come out and register, it costs you nothing. Strangers coming to Marlin often come to the register to see if they can find lost friends. Come on Decoration Day and register.
Q. J. Cockrell, Adjt.
