One Charles Anderson, a negro, was arrested Monday night on a charge of stealing a coat.
Charley was accosted near the lumber yard of Nash, Robinson & Co., and told to surrender by Deputy Marshal Sam H. Anderson.  Instead of obeying meekly the man of color took to his heels and gave the officer "a run for his money."
Sheriff Carlton happened along about that time and joined in the chase.  In order to frighten the fleeing darkey into slowing up, a pistol was discharged in the air by Policeman Anderson and Charley was soon rounded up near Donohoo's ice house on the Central railway.
The prisoner was conducted to the county jail where he awaits due process of the law.
