(CONF)ESSED THE CRIME.
-----

Dudly Morgan, the negro arrested near Longview on the charge of assaulting Mrs. McKee, the wife of the section foreman, was burned at the stake Thursday afternoon in the presence of a large number of of (sic) people.
After being caught, Dudly made a confession of the crime and preparations at once began for his execution.
When all was ready the match was applied to timbers saturated  with coal oil and in a second the pyre was one mass of flame.  The body was burned to an unrecognizable mass in a short time, on the trunk remaining.  The crowd was orderly throughout and all is now quiet.
