A WILD RUN-A-WAY FURNISHED
EXCITEMENT ON LIVE OAK STREET

~~~~~
     A wild run-a-way furnished excitement on Live Oak street for a time Thursday afternoon.  A German farmer, named Wolfe, who lives near Perry, drove into town a team composed of a gray horse and a young mule with a hard mouth. When about the crossing of Island and Live Oak streets this mule took a scare at something and started down Live Oak carrying the wagon driver and horse along with him. The bridle bit snapped in two and for a while it looked like the broncho would have things all his way. However, Wolfe kept the team in the "middle of the road," by great efforts, until the street near Silverman's residence was reached. The team turned north on this street, but in doing so the wagon tongue collided with a telegraph pole and the front end was projected to the ground. With the tongue ploughing into the ground, the team continued in their mad, flight until Coleman street was reached when the outfit hung up on a post. No serious damage was done, due largely to the determined efforts of the driver who hung on the lines like grim death.
