N. MELTON vs V. A. SCOVILL

~~~~~
     The jury in the case of N. Melton vs. V. A. Scovill brought in a verdict for the plaintiff for the sum of $70.00. The action was based on a contract alleged by plaintiff with defendant, for the lease or rent of a certain pasturage for a certain number of cattle. The cattle were sold to H. O. Bargainer by Scovill while a portion of the pasturage fees were, according to plaintiff's contontion, yet due. The cattle were attached by plaintiff pending the disposition of the suit. The case was tried twice before and in each trial a hung jury resulted. Each time every phase of the case was stubbornly contested by the attorneys for both parties to the suit and several days consumed in its trial. The costs probably amount to several times more than the amount originally involved.
