CLOSING EXERCISES.

Marlin Schools Make A Fine Showing.

     The closing exercises of the Marlin public schools were held in the district court room Friday night and were attended by one of the largest audiences ever assembled in Marlin. In fact the large court room was not large enough to hold all those who desired to witness the exercises.
     The stage was decorated with pot plants, a profusion of flowers and green and white streamers, indicative of the class colors.
     The program as published in this paper was followed, begining with in vocation by Rev. J. A. Montgomery, and was interspersed throughout with numbers by the orchestra.
     The numbers on the program given by the members of the graduating class were as follows: Salutatory, Our Country and the Young Men," by Charles Jones.
     "Songs that touch America's heart" - Miss Lola Hunnicutt.
     Valse Brilliante - Miss Lalla Branson.
     "Look Ahead" - Miss Evelyn Rice.
     "Twenty-five years Hence" - Miss Mary Powell.
     Eohenne Harp - Miss Evelyn Rice.
     "Last Moments of Eminent Men" - Valedictory, Miss Lalla Branson.
      The literary address was delivered by Hon. Cullen F. Thomas. This was a bit of finished oratory and delighted the audience
     The presentation of the diplomas was by Z. I. Harlan, president of the school board, Benediction by Rev. M. T. Andrews.
     Thus ends the session of 1903-4 of our public schools. In reviewing the work for the session, the conclusion is evident that great progress has been made due to the efficient work of the pupils and teachers and the earnest co-operation of the school board and the patrons. Marlin has just cause to be proud of her schools.
