DEPARTMENT TO REORGANIZE.
-----
Service to be Improved in Many Ways.
-----

The executive committee of the Marlin Fire Department met Thursday and decided to reorganize the department with a view of putting it on a better footing and improving the service.
One of the changes will be in the plan of membership.  In order to avoid the complaint frequently made as to the exemption of firmen (sic) from jury service, the plan will be adopted limiting the membership of each company to ten.  Each member will be required to hold a card signed by the company captain and the chief.  The fee for issuing this card will be one dollar which will go to a fund for reimbursing fireman in the loss of clothing during fires.
Chief Nettles is now getting prices on hose wagons and a formal petition will be presented to the city council to purchase and equip one for the department.  With this addition, which is badly needed, and the improved service otherwise, the department will be in first class trim for coping with the fiery monster.
