COLORED MEN'S MEETING.

Elect Delegates To Go To Houston
On October 30.

       Pursuant to a call by the leading colored men of the state to call a convention to meet in Houton, Texas, on the 30th of this month colored men of the county met at the court house Saturday afternoon to elect delegates to the said convention.  The meeting was called to order by Dr. C. D. Trice, who read the call, whereupon the organization was perfected by electing Dr. C. D. Trice chairman and L. S. Simmons secretary.  Among those who spoke of the importance of the meeting were, N T Denson, P A Stamps, C L Humber, J Washington, J H Childs, J A Anderson, B L Williams and A H Caldwell.  At the conclusion it was decided to send four delegates to the Houston convention.  The following were elected to represent Falls county:  Dr. C D Trice, L S Simmons, Revs R L Williams and N T Denson.  Collection was taken up to defray delegates expenses and all gave liberal.
       A committee was appointed to solicit aid from the colored people of Falls county for the said purpose.
       The following committee was appointed on resolutions:  C L Humber, J H Childs, J A Anderson, A H Colwell, J Washington, R L Williams, P A Stamps.
       The object of the Houston convention is a general discussion of the ways and means for promoting the moral, educational, civic and material welfare of the race.
