A BOLD BURGLARS' WORK
~~~~~
Secured $281.00 From D. L. Clinton's
Saloon
~~~~~

     Sometime Saturday night, after the closing hour at 12, someone secured $271.00 in cash and a county warrant for $10.00 from the safe in the saloon of D. L. Clinton.
     Mr. Clinton states that he left the money in the cash drawer in the safe, but evidently failed to turn on the combination.
     How that party who secured the cash gained entrance is not quite clear, and it is possible that he was locked in the saloon at closing time and after getting the money, gained exit through the back door by removing the cross bar by which the door is fastened.
     In the money taken was $8.00 belonging to the bar 'tender, Boge Daugherty, who kept it in an envelope in the safe drawer. In the envelope was also a pension document and probably some other private papers.
     There was about $15.00 in silver in another drawer in the safe and about $5.00 in small change in the cash register drawer, that was left unmolested. Most of the money taken was in currency.
     There is no clue as yet to the thief.
