LOCALS

       Miss Rosalis Battle carried off first honors at the Marlin public schools with a grade of 89 and Miss Mamie Bartlett second with a grade of 87.  There are nine young ladies and they made fine grades.  No one falling below the required average.

       There will be a grand May Day picnic given at Lott on May 1st, and a reunion of all the candidates of Falls and adjoining counties.  R. L. Henry and Cullen F. Thomas, together with a few other leading politicans will speak.  It will wind up with a grand military picnic.  All are invited.

       Mr. Hayes of Arkansas, was in the city Saturday with his son-in-law, Dr. T. H. Baird of Otto.  Mr. Hayes was a reunion visitor.

       Col. Nick Stallworth who was here on a visit received a telegram that his daughter was critically ill and he left at once for his home.

       Judge D. H. Boyles of Reagan was in the city Saturday introdrucing (sic) Mr. Nettles, Drs. Robbins and Watkins of Alabama, who were visiting here from the reunion.

       Mrs. F. E. Hailey and sons will leave in a few days for San Angelo on a visit to Mrs. Hailey's mother and other relatives.

       Mr. T. J. Griffin, a brother of Mrs. W. D. Thomas, stopped over a day while enroute to Beaumont where he is interested in the oil wells.
