Miss Hinda Gaines of Rosebud, is visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Minter.

Will McComb has two stalks of cotton displaying them on the street Saturday afternoon and as he expressed it, they were "before and after" the patent cotton picker has struck it.  The cotton picked by suction, on the same order that wagons are unloaded at gins.  He has also with this something by which the leaves taken in are thrown out.  If this does work well it will be nearly as much service as the cotton gin, as it will have both labor and time.

Hon. T O. Martin, cashier of the First National Bank of Rosebud, was in the city Monday on business.  Mr. Martin reports crop conditions excellent in that section of the county and the business conditions of the community good.

Curtis & Company's great Mill End Sale, under the supervision of W. T. Emory was inaugurated Monday at 9 o'clock.  The hour of opening found a large crowd of shoppers lined up ready for the word to be given. There were people here from all over the county and quite a large number from Marlin.  The sale is unlike anything that has ever been held in Marlin before and buying has been going on all day at a very high speed.  An unique feature of the sale is the use of automobile for delivering the the (sic) goods in the city.  This has attracted considerable attention.  The sale will continue for ten days.

Mrs. Mollie A. Wright of Beaumont, is visiting in the city, the guest of Mrs. H. F. Spencer.  Mrs. Wright was formerly Mrs. W W Hazlewood and has many old friends in the city.
