R. C. Roos and J. M. Green of Yoakum are among the visitors.

Fred Klopp, a Denison merchant is in the city for a few days recreation.

J. A. Giraud a hustling railway traveling agent was doing Marlin Tuesday.

J. O. Teagarden, a prominent citizen of Mineola, is among the visitors.

Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Flinn of Reagan were Marlin visitors Tuesday.

Step Grayson, an aged negro who has "been here since the stars fell" died Sunday.

C. W. Adams left last night for Tennessee and Georgia on a business trip.

Hon. W. T. Bartholomew of Franklin was in the city Monday on business. 

Mr. and Mrs. Pat Cheeves of Temple were visiting Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Cheeves here Sunday.

The Daughters of the Confederacy are arranging a very interesting program for Decoration Day.

Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Cox of Council Bluff; Iowa, came in this morning from San Antonio for a visit to Marlin.

A number of the visitors and a few Marlin people enjoyed an impromptu dance at the Arlington Tuesday night.

The trouble at Chilton has subsided to some extent and no further conflict is expected at the present, if at all.

Otto Wolfe who purchased the Berkoff bankrupt stock of goods in Marlin last winter, was arrested in New Orleans Saturday on a charge growing out of some financial transactions. His liabilities are said to be about $17,000 with assets not known.

The B. C. Clark Light Guards have received an Invitation from Maj. H. P. Jordan to attend and participate in the military tactics to be held by the Waco companies on San Jacinto day, April 21. Capt. Lenair thinks that the company can attend.

The municipal election was held under the Terrell election law, passed off very quietly the following parties having been elected: J. B. Williams, mayor,  W. R. Southwell, marshal; A. M. Gordon, D. S. Maffett, Ed. Schiller, C. L. Trice and A. F. Tomlinson, aldermen - Lott Clarion.

Mr. S. M. Saxon as he is familiarly known has been admitted to the Confederate at Austin. "Uncle Sam" as he is familiarly known has resided in Blue Ridge for 45 years and is well know to all the old settlers of the eastern part of the county.

The I. & G. N.  Railway will collect an exhibitor the resources long its line of road and place them in a hall at the World's Fair. This exhibit will consist of the products of farm orchard and garden and the effort will be made by this means, to acquaint the public of the many and varied sources of industrial wealth of Texas.

The public is invited to attend, the "opening reception" of the Public Library Friday evening at 8:30 o'clock in the K. of. P. parlors.

The statements of the four national banks of Falls county recently published show individual deposits subject to check, amounting to $566,897.57.

Dr. B. H. Carroll Jr., has been elected to the position of Professor History and Political Science at Baylor University and has accepted the same.

George H. Carter announces in this issue as a candidate for reelection to the office of county attorney of Falls County.

H. P. Haldeman and Misses Pauline and Madeline Robinson of Austin were among Sunday's arrivals in the hot water town.

The Mission Society of the Methodist church met, Monday afternoon with Mrs. T. S. Clark. The meeting was largely attended.

Savas Xydias is now able to be out and at his place of business again.  Savas had a close call but feels good that it was no worse than it was.

The case against Matt Slater charged the assault in connection with the fight at Xydias store some time ago was dismissed Saturday, there appearing nothing to warrant a conviction.

The Public Library Association will give a public entertainment on next Friday night at 8:30 at some place yet to be designated. This entertainment will be free and the public is cordially invited to attend.

There will be given a strawberry supper at the Blue Ridge Baptist church, Friday night April 22, for the benefit of erecting the Cottage at Baylor Female College, Belton, Texas.

Ike Smith was in Friday afternoon from Blue Ridge and stated that the damage done by the winds on Thursday afternoon in that community were extensive so far as outhouses, fences, etc were concerned. A house on the Hunnicutt farm, occupied by, Sam Blair and family was among the number blown down. The family was fortunately not at at the time.

A personal letter from the Grady settlement in the southeastern part of the county states that the storm a few days ago in that community was very fierce.  Large green trees were torn up by the roots and several outhouses blown away, among them the barn of J, W. Gibbs near Grady school house. The cyclone was of the whirlwind variety and traveled at the rate of about 40 miles an hour, going in a southeasterly direction.
