     Hon. Walter Gresham, of Galveston, was in the city on business Monday.

     Dr. P. S. Turner, of Belton, is in Marlin visitor and is, highly satisfied with Marlin as a resort for health.

     Geo. S. Cousins has pusaeqred of P. C. Bryrne the two residences on Coleman street adjoining the Cousins property. Consideration $1,700.00.

     On June 22 the corner stone of the new school building will be laid at Lott by the Masonic lodge of that place.  On the afternoon prominent speakers will be on hand to entertain the people. Everybody is invited to be present.

     J. W. Mudge, manager of the Hotel Menger in San Antonio, who spent Monday in the city on business, "expressed himself as highly pleased with Marlin as a great future health resort. He is among those who believe that Marlin water possesses virtues unknown to hot springs.

     The city board of Equalization has completed the examination of the renditions of property and adjourned after citing one hundred and fifty-five tax payers to appear before them and show cause why their property valuation should not be raised.

     The Tom Thumb wedding at the court house on the night of June 14 promises to be the "hit of the season." The managers of the affair will leave nothing undone that will contribute to the success of the occasion and all may be assured of a good time.

     The military company will meet again Wednesday and Friday night and every night next week for the purpose of practice, preparatory to the encampment at Wooten Wells. All the members or others who can drill, are requested to join the boys for this event.

     The counties in this congressional district have the following convention vote: McLennan 14, Bell 13, Falls 9, Coryell 6. Hamilton 5, total 47. In the senatorial district: McLennan 14, Falls 9, Milam 9, total 32. In the flotorial district: McLennan 14, Falls 9, Limestone 9, total 32.

     Hon. W. C. O'Bryan, of McGregor, is in the county this week in the interest of his candidacy for fIotorial representative. (two to be elected.) Mr. O'Bryan is a practicing attorney at McGregor and was formerly engaged in the newspaper business.  He has but recently announced, but is making an active canvass of the district.

     Hon. G. B. Gerald, candidate for congress, is filing a number of dates in the county this week. He was in the city Tuesday and spoke at McClanahan that night. He speaks in Marlin at the court house on Saturday night, June 18, and the public is cordially invited to hear him.  A special invitation is extended the ladies to be present.

     Linton J. Davis is quite ill at his father's house at Mooreville.
