A test was made yesterday afternoon of the water supply for the Marlin water works, and resulted very satisfactory to the owners of the plant.  The pump was kept running for 12 hours at the rate of nearly 700 gallons per minute, of more than half a million gallons for the 12 hours.  The water in the well only sank nine feet during the pumping, and at 12 o'clock last night, a short time after the pumping ceased, the water had ascended to a greater height than before the pumping began.

Falls county delegates to the state convention have returned from Galveston.  In the distributing of committee honors Senator J. J. Swann was placed on the credentials committee, and Dan M.        The Arlington concerts are getting to be quite popular with the visitors as well as the people.  The one given Saturday evening was largely attended and savage indeed was the breast in which no responsive chord was found for the splendid music given by the Arlington Orchestra.
A feature of the evening was a speech by Hon W P Hagerty of New Orleans in which he, for Manager Harrison, thanked the kindly consideration given the concerts.  The speaker also took occassion (sic) to say that Marlin was destined to become one of the famous health resorts of the world.  In his opinion a continuation of the good work now in its inception would hasten this much to be desired end.  The energy and enterprise now being shown in behalf of Greater Marlin could but bring forth an abundant harvest and he was glad of it.  This was short and to the point was filled with witticisms and humorous references which brought applause and a glad hand from the audience.
At the conclusion of the concert a general invitation was given to the guests to repair to the billiard room for an hour's dance which was accepted by quite a number.
Mr. Harrison's enterprise in securing this Orchestra and providing these concerts and entertainments, is quite commendable.
