LOCALS.

       The weekly edition of the Democrat is invariably printed on Wednesdays.  Parties having announcements, readers, etc., intended for the weekly must hand them in not later than Tuesday's to insure publication in the current issue.

       Shaw Bros., Richard and Isaac have opened up a saloon in the iron clad building on the old lot, rear of Smith & Smith's grocery store.  They keep on hand a full line of whiskeys, wines, brandies, cigars, etc.

       Mr. John Ward, of Falls county, was made a member of the committee on rules of procedure at the state republican convention at Fort Worth.

       The Lott Telephone Exchange which has for some time been managed  from the Marlin Exchange, now has a manager of its own, Philmar Arrington, of this city, having been appointed to place.  The change was made Thursday.

       The jury in the Newbold damage case brought in a verdict Friday afternoon allowing the plaintiff the sume of $345.  The suit was brought to recover $975 damages to property on Falls street caused by construction of the I & G N railway.
