LOCAL HAPPENINGS.

Mrs. S. D. Davison of
Reagan was a visitor to Marlin Thursday.
Mrs. Rhoda Parnell of Waco is visiting
relatives in Marlin.
O. R. Porterfield and wife of Lott were
visitors to Marlin Friday.
Mrs. F. P. Nettles has returned from a
visit to relatives in Mexia.
Mrs. R. B. Dickey of Waco is visiting Judge
and Mrs. L. W. Goodrich.
S. B. McKinney has returned from a visit to
the Haskell country.
Dr. Welsch has returned to Groesbeeck after
a short visit to friends in Marlin.
Mr. and Mrs. Senechal have returned to
Houston after a visit of three weeks in Marlin.
Joe Bailey of Lott and B. M. Torbett of
Marlin were given the high honors at the Elks lodge Thursday night.

T. W. Hander and wife and Mr. and Mrs. J.
Faudi of Perry were visitors to Marlin Friday.
Mrs. Hale has returned to Waxahachie after
a visit to her daughter, Mrs. A. Lamb.
J. W. Hoke has returned from Prairie Plains
where he was called on a sad mission, to attend the funeral of his sister.

R. E. George, division passenger agent for
the H. & T. C. was peregrinating in Marlin Friday afternoon.
Capt. F. Y. Doke and wife have returned to
their in Corsicana after several days visit to Mr. and Mrs. Sam Peyton.

Dr. J. C. Snead left Friday afternoon for
his in San Francisco after a visit of several days to Marlin and Rosebud.

The Falls County Farmers Union will meet
Oct. 18 and 19 at Viesca and the meeting is expected to be a very interesting
one.
Herr Von Denkelreisenheiner of Joliet,
Texas, is in the city for the benefit of his health and for the purpose of
reducing his name.

Dock Allison, the negro charged with theft
of $35 from another negro at Highbank, plead guilty Thursday afternoon before
Judge Boyles and was fined $25 and one day in county jail.
Judge J. D. Lamar of Rosebud was in Marlin
on business today. The Judge says Rosebud, like all other towns in this
section at least, will get not more than half the cotton that it go(t) in 1906.

St. Joseph's school in this city is
progressing very nicely now with Sister Superior Melane in charge with an able
corps of assistants in each department. There are 35 pupils enrolled.
