LOCAL SCOUTS SET UP PLANS FOR YEAR ---- ALSO 1950 GOALS

Local Boy Scouts attended a district meeting Thursday night, February 23 at Rosebud.  The program included Roundtables by the Scouters and Cubbers.

They discussed planning of programs and ideas along that line.

Cubbers centered their Roundtable discussions around photography and some phases of it.

Clift Epps is District Chairman for the “Heart o’ Texas Council and Hubert Davis is the district commissioner.

The Heart O’ Texas Council calendar hs some bright events scheduled this year for local scouts.

Outstanding among the scheduled plans is the Summer Camp at Camp Tahuaya.  The local delegation leaves for the second National Scout Jamboree at Valley Forge, Pa., in the latter part of June.

Other summer activities will feature swimming meetings, courts of honor   and district meetings.

The Falls Scouts have set up their district goals for 1950:

Every Cub, Scout and Explorer, they say, should advance at least one rank sometime during the year; Every troop and Explorer Post must have at least ten days and nights of camping.

And, also, every unit with a top commissioned leader with basic training.

Another goal for the year; organization of 3 new packs, 3 new troops and 2 new troops and 2 new Explorer Units, ending up with a grand total of at least 23 units and 500 boys by December 31.

Their slogan: “500 in 50.”
