Briefly Told

       T. L. Criswell caught an o'possum on this place on Craik street, which is the first reported this season this close in.

       J. H. Quick, L. E. Barrow, T. M. Storey and J. W. Morgan have returned from Waco, where they served on the federal grand jury.

       Many ducks are reported in the lakes north of here toward Fort Worth, which is interpreted by some as a sign of a change in the weather.

       Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Kendrick attended the funeral at Waco this morning of his nephew, Jack Kendrick, age 13, who died at Big Spring, Wednesday.

       While he was driving on Winder street Friday evening, D. D. Nowlin's hat blew off and caught on the car number.  He thought he had lost it until he got out and made a search.

       Rev. T. A. Binford, pastor of a Baptist church at Corpus Christi, and Mrs. Binford were guests in the of W. B. Hodges of the Live Oak community Thursday, coming down from Waco where they have been attending the annual Texas Baptist General Convention.

       Mark Berry, who is in training at Camp Mabry, Austin, for patrol service with the state highway department, is in Marlin for a brief visit with his mother, Mrs. M. E. Berry.  "Training will be completed about December 3," he said, "after which I will receive my assignment."

       Rev. and Mrs. Campbell of Henderson, who have been attending the Texas Baptist General Convention at Waco, stopped over in Marlin to see Rev. and Mrs. W. C. Binford of Beeville, visitors here, en route to Navasota to attend the funeral of a sister-in-law, Mrs. Carroll Weaver, who died near there Friday.
