       Miss Marie Paul has returned from an extended trip to the north and the Jamestown exposition, and is again with the millinery department at Curtis & Co.

       Rolled herring, codfish and fresh mackerel at Cousins & Sehub's.

       Sweet potatoes are selling for $1.10 per bushel to the merchants.  The crop is light this year, 75 bushels per acre being about the best yield yet reported from the Viesca truck growing section.

       It became known in the city Friday that W. D. Dillard, one of Marlin's most popular young men, had married last Saturday night in Dallas, his bride being Mrs. E. D. Quince of that city.  Dorsey returned to Marlin Monday and told several of his friends of his important transaction, but they thought the was only jesting.  It was only after he had produced a clipping from the Dallas News, publishing the marriage licenses, that his friends became convinced, and have since been busy extending congratulations.

       Up in Waco the council has passed an ordinance requiring drivers of ice wagons to carry scales and weigh the ice when demanded by the purchaser. It does seem some people (are) determined to make life (--------) for the ice man.

       Threre was one plea of guillty entered in county court Saturday. Rufus O'Neal, for gaming was fined $10 and one day in jail.

       H. O. Stansberry, who recently received notice of his appointment as postmaster at Rosebud, has forwarded his official bond to the authorities at Washington and as soon as it can be approved and his commission issued he will take charge.  The bond is signed by C. O. Leuschner, S. J. Ward, J. W. Jones and Burgher McCullough, which makes it good at the ratio of about seven to (o)ne.
