B. C. Bratton, Jr., who was operated on Thursday remains critically ill.

J. H. Barnett and Raymond Barnett left Sunday night for Longview on receipt of a message saying the baby of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Barnett was critically ill.

Mrs. L. R. Chambers and children left today for Denison to be with her father who is critically ill. She was accompanied by her sister Mrs. J. T. Grady of Bryan.

A "nice quiet game" in a local hotel was rudely interfered with by minions of the law from the sheriff's department Sunday night. Fines and costs resulted in justice court.

E. C. Cobb and family, who moved to Oklahoma some years ago, have returned to Marlin to reside. "Some change in the city since we left here" observed Mr. Cobb this morning.

Miss Eleanor Watts has arrived from Menard where she taught school the past term. She has been elected piano teacher in the Bremond school and will also teach two subjects in high school the coming year.

Mrs. Frank Maddox and Miss Ada May Maddox, from Austin, returned today after a visit with Mrs. Walter S. Hunnicutt. They are the widow and daughter of the late Frank Maddox, who was prominent in Texas official and political circles during his life time.

W. W. Stirman, Mrs. Stirman and son, Carmack, of Waco, attended services at the Church of Christ Sunday and were guests of Rev. and Mrs. Ben West in the afternoon. Mr. Stirman made an address to the morning congregation on the 20th chapter of Acts of the Apostles.

On his return from East Texas oil fields Saturday night, Ben Phillips car collided with a horse on the highway north of Bryan. On account of a car with glaring lights passing, he did not see the animal until it was too late to stop. The horse reared up and the car hit him on the hind legs. Ben estimates his car damage at $60 or $70. He drove it into Hearne and caught a bus home.

Miss Ruth Brown has returned form a visit with relatives in Groesbeck.

Billie Kemper Wadzeck returned today after a visit with friends in La Grande.

Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Smith and Miss Virginia Earle left Sunday for Ward, Colorado. He will return in about two weeks, but the wife a daughter will remain two months.
